Choeng Mon - Koh Samui Travel Guide and Holiday Villas Listing Choeng Mon is located in the North-East of Samui only 15min away from the airport and Chaweng beach or Bophut's Fisherman's village. It enjoys a quieter ambiance with many private villas and houses as well as all types of hotels and resorts along its cove beach.
There is no village strictly speaking but a wide range of local amenities are still available. As the sun sets all the small resorts convert their beachfront into a huge alfresco dining area. You can wonder along the beach and choose the perfect spot to eat and relax. Alternatively head away from the beach where there are numerous mid to high-end restaurants offering Italian, French, European and Indian cuisine.
Sala Samui is a leading top of the field resort and is attached to the unique fusion restaurant, Pangaea. Neigbouring White House and Imperial Boat House Resorts each offer restaurants and spas to vie for your attention. Most of the resorts attract an older, package tour crowd, predominantly from Germany and France. This is reflected in the food and entertainment on offer in many of the resorts' restaurants. So don't expect the Thai cuisine served to be too spicy and do expect traditional Thai dancing and numerous Filipino bands expertly playing covers of Western pop standards.
A big advantage for anyone travelling with children, is that the resorts are all built on substantial grounds and therefore have all got much bigger swimming pools than can generally be found elsewhere on the island. Cheap accommodation, on the other hand, is virtually non-existent in Choeng Mon.
Massage salas are set up on the beach throughout the day offering all types of Thai or oil massage together with a comprehensive list of other treatments.
The beach is free of the obtrusive noise of watersports found in some areas of the island. The sands curve offering a variety of views and perspectives, from the more populated main beach to hidden alcoves enjoyed by those wishing for some peace.
Choeng Mon does not receive a regular songtiew service so taxis, both car and motorbike, are your best bet. You could also rent jeep, making the most of the handy location right in the middle of Samui’s major attractions.
