I went to Koh Phangan with some friends for the full moon party and stayed at Awe Resort on Ban Tai beach, which was not far from the pier. We were very happy with our stay and the villas were lovely. Since there were only two of us, we had our own huge beds, which was great. Well worth the splurge as we have been backpacking and have been in many small hostels. To have our own two-floor house was a treat for a couple of days. The taxi took us to the resort and we were greeted by the caretaker who showed us to the villas and the pool. The villas is on a small beach next to some small bungalows. The ocean is beautiful -- crystal clear with great view. We didn't cook at all though but I think that the kitchen is a good touch. The only thing that we didn't like was our neighbor next door who brought their bratty kids with them and they were screaming at each other the whole time. Annoying, but they left after one night so that was OK. We took a taxi to the full moon party and partied all night and passed out the next day until late in the afternoon LOL. Don't mess with too many of them buckets! The pool was a good spot to pass out on, by the way. We ate mostly next door and the food was very good. The restaurant owner and friendly staff took care of everything that we needed -- even a motorbike rental. On our last day we decided to ride around and explore the island and saw many beautiful beaches. Getting around was really easy. We like the location of this resort a lot. Though we saw nicer beaches around the island on our motorbike, they were hard to get to and the road was rough (my friend even fell once, but no major damage). So it was nice that the resort was on a good road. It was good that the resort was on a well-paved, lit road, as some parts of the island that we saw the roads were a bit crazy -- though the nature was stunning. Would like to come back to the Phangan and stay here again!

I stayed at AWE Resort for the Full Moon Party in May 2009. I had a great time at the FMP, but I was glad to not be staying on Haad Rin Beach. AWE Resort on Baan Tai beach was a quiet place to chill out while taking in the incredible view from the edge of the infinity pool. The villas are really nice - the design and architecture are quite stunning and very modern-looking. And everyone from the staff to the fellow visitors were friendly and easy-going. I really enjoyed my stay there. I will certainly be back!

You won't be disappointed when you arrive, the pictures of the place say it all. It's one of the newer and nicer of establishments and accomodations that we saw while on the island. My friends and I are 26-35; we were coming for the Full Moon Party. I have to say after seeing and hearing all the chaos it was nice to be the 10min taxi ride away when we were ready to sleep and get away from it all. If you're not looking to party 24/7 I wouldn't suggest staying in Haad Rin. The website and most importantly the owner are extremely helpful with helping set up accomodations and really making sure that your needs and expectations are met during your stay. Peter was GREAT and really shows an interest, care and listens in making this place the best it can be for you. The pool is great, the beach is right out your front door and good restraunt and bar(s) right next door and some mild entertainment across the street. Just be careful when returning to your room if you've had to many buckets of alcohol, there are only stairs to get to your room. We plan on coming back! San Francisco, Ca.
  • just what we were looking for -- loved awe!

We had such a good time at Awe Resort and wanted to share our experience with those reading the reviews. We originally wanted to stay for only three nights but we extended our stay to six nights! We had never been to Phangan before and was looking forward to the trip and when we got to the resort we were just blown away. The grounds and the ocean looked gorgeous. As you approach the villas from the back the view was just so beautiful. The villas itself was very nice. We didn’t cook much but the kitchen and dining room made our vacation a lot more personal – feels a bit like home. The other guests rented motorbikes and made simple meals and snacks in the kitchen. The supermarket is close to the resort and through we got some basic items there we never made any big meals. We never stayed in rental homes before but decided to treat ourselves because the pictures looked so nice. We were not disappointed. The beds were comfy and the room felt really open and breezy. Our favorite was the pool though! So wonderful to be sunbathing and looking at the ocean at the same time. We spent many afternoons just dipping in the sea and going to the pool. Pen was so good to give us extra towels when we asked. We had food delivered to the pool on many occasions and felt like we were in heaven as we ate and saw the island view (Samui?) from the ocean. Getting to and from town was not a problem and there are so many restaurants on the beach that we dined out every night. We love that the beach was quiet and peaceful. We went to Haad Rin a couple of nights to eat and party and was happy to come back to the resort for some peace and quiet after the craziness (we're guilty of drinking a lot here)! Getting taxis were very easy and we felt like a professional after taking it everyday. The restaurant arranged for our trip back to Samui on speedboat and the agent picked us up right from the resort. We will for sure come back to stay at Awe! Absolutely recommended!
  • great resort

Have just spent 6 days staying at Awe on Koh Phangan. It was a beautiful resort and we met some fabulous people. The owner Peter was away whilst we were there but he was contactable via email and dealt with any issues that arose very promptly. the is an onsite care taker call Pen who was very helpful but discrete and not intrusive. She did some laundry for us for an amazing 80BHT which is about £1.65. The last negative review of this resort was over the top and in my view unnecessary, most of the guys problems could have been sorted by speaking to the owner or care taker. The kitchen could do with a few more things such as a bottle opener and cork screw. there is not an onsite bar or restaurant but there are plenty of options along the beach. The immediate one adjacent is called the Phangan Beach Resort and was a little too chavy for my tastes being ruled over by a Chavrina from Latvia who was very loud and rude on occasions. However if that is your thing then it shouldn't be an issue. The Milky bay Resort, left down the beach was fantastic having a great restaurant and cocktails. Another good place to eat was Boat Ahoy; left at the entrance when leaving the resort and about 50m along the road. We ultimately enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to others.
  • great stay at awe!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The resort and the grounds are just beautiful! I had stayed on Koh Phangan before, but at one of the more typical places in a small beach hut. Awe provided a much better experience - the accomodations were clean, modern and stylish and the restaurant on site was great! We were very comfortable and the service was excellent. Plus, the fact that they had a pool was a huge plus - having the option of the gorgeous beach and ocean right on the grounds and the pool was wonderful. Koh Phangan is a lovely little island perfect for a relaxing vacation, much more laid back and low key than Koh Samui
  • perfect - in everyway!!

Fabulously designed modern rooms, a gorgeous pool which you just dont want to get out of and the lovely beach beconing you ... what more can anyone ask for on this lovely island. Awe resort is a wonderful place which seems to have everything going for it! A little difficult to find but maybe thats its USP .. away from the madenning crowds ..this is one place where you can simply take in and just be. The restaurant next door is great too - delicious food and service with a warm smile .. .. Getting about the island is easy from Awe - simply hop on a taxi or hire your own scooters and zip away. I could on and on about Awe ... Simply book a stay here - you wont regret it!!
  • perfect place for a great and relaxed time in koh phangan

We had some great days in Awe resort on Koh Phangan. The bungalows are very clean, new and great designed. A cool pool and an own beach as well as a small bar beneath (but far away enough so that it was not disturbing) makes it a great place for a holiday as well as for preparation for full moon party. Awe is not that easy to find (ask for Phangan beach or printout the map on its homepage) but very recommendable. * Liked — nearly everything
  • great time at awe resort

Wow. The place is really beautiful and the beach is stunning. Getting to the resort by taxi was hard at first, because there is no sign from main road, but we arrange for a private pickup from the pier (200 baht each), so we remembered the entrance from the first day. Just remember Phangan Beach as the wooden sign you see from the main road. Went to Haad Rin for a day and although it was jumping it wasn't really for us but we had a couple for nice meals there. We just chilled out by the pool and got drunk mostly. Ha ha. Cute guys there for sure. * Liked — you can drink by the pool or relax on the beach. The people were all so friendly.

I was traveling in Thailand for the first time with some friends and had a great time at this resort! It's just a quick flight and a short speed boat ride from Bangkok. We weren't even sure where to go after Bangkok and just poked around on the internet. Wanted to check out this island because we heard that others are more crowded. Koh Phangan is still really beautiful. We were able to rent motorbikes and went hiking while we were there. Definitely recommended!
