Laem Set Beach is situated on the south coast of the Koh Samui island. While the south coast is very relaxing there is no shopping or nightlife nearby though it is only a 20mins drive to Lamai or 40mins to Chaweng.
Laem Set is an area which offers varied attractions for adults and children alike. The famous Butterfly Farm is nestled in the hills above the beach, where you will enjoy a lovely day out walking through tropical gardens filled with butterflies. The farm also has a working bee hive to observe as well as a museum dedicated to insects and butterflies of Thailand and Asia. The kid’s love it.
Nearby you can pay a visit to the Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo where you will be able to see many fish and coral species, among others turtles, sharks, catfishes…etc from the depths of the ocean floor. Visitors can feed giant turtles in their tanks and even have their photo taken with a tiger – now there’s a souvenir!
Laem Set boasts some high end hotels and boutique resort and spas offering a more holistic approach set in outstanding locations. You can also enjoy first class dining at these resorts. We expect the area to attract higher end development over the next few years so be sure not delay a holiday in the area if you’re attracted to quiet, natural surroundings, with enough to do to create a bonding family holiday.
Laem Set Villas
Laem Set is another famed area for private beach villas on Koh Samui and a few residential apartments are being built to add to the inventory. Renters at Laem Set are understandably attracted to the quiet, tradition laid-back island atmosphere. There are certain areas of Koh Samui that feel like mini international towns. While this may not be a bad thing, it certainly doesn’t satisfy those dreaming of an authentic island feeling – the experience of escape.
